The Academy of Arts and ImbecilitySome Information about This Site
This web site was started in 1996 as an adjunct of Grobius Shortling in Brooklyn (original page on that site, still maintained, was the Think Tank). It expanded there under many incarnations until it ended up on Geocities. It got bigger and more complex and was intertangled with other Grobius and Fishenet web sites in too many places. Enough, finally! Now that domains are easy to get (and not as expensive), and also that I have some time now, having been laid off from my work-for-a-living job, it seems like a good thing to do some integration to make your access to this site -- which is still huge -- a more rewarding experience. It will take a while, however, because the idle time during the summer ran out without much getting done, and after Labor Day (1999) spare time becomes rarer. But please bookmark this new site, especially if you already have links to our older pages [part of the integration scheme is to put links to this new site on the older pages, in some cases cut them down to stubs, but always leave something there since there is nothing more irritating than a 404-not-found when you look for an old link]. But WHAT IS the Academy of Arts and Imbecility? You can check the home page for its fictional premise as an actual campus located in suburban New Jersey. Yeah, well, don't go looking for it along Route 22 or the Turnpike. This is a VIRTUAL college, although we can grant degrees from BA to MA and PhDs, even if nobody recognizes them. There are no qualifications needed except to pass the scholarship committee -- Grobius and Fishe. Whatever you submit may qualify, and if it doesn't then we will just tell you that it is crap as far as we are concerned. The Academy of Arts and Imbecility is established along normal academic departmental structural lines, i.e., Science, Art, Religion, Humanities, Journalism, etc. [but no economics or sports, because we are not into that, considering that it is all self-serving crap -- although we would welcome any entries about Darts Leagues]. If you would like to contribute a thesis to this site, please DO! That is why this domain, Imbecility.com, now exists. This is the Web Alternative to going to college -- your certificate will be a genuine hand-drawn diploma, which should be worth as much as anything else that you (your parents) would have to pay for, and it's FREE if you qualify. You can submit your application using our Form menu.
